Karén Khachaturov creates surreal, pastel-coloured worlds where people and everyday objects lose their familiar meaning in the digital age. Originally working as a documentary photographer, he later turned to staged photography, developing a distinctive visual language that blends commercial colour palettes with elements of pop surrealism.

His photographs feature characters who seem detached, distorted and caught between person and object, exploring alienation, identity and the increasingly blurred boundaries between digital and physical life.

Khachaturov’s first exhibition took place in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2015. Since then, his work has been exhibited internationally, including in Russia, France, Armenia, Canada and the United States. His photography has also been featured in newspapers, magazines and four self-published books, Pastel Poetry (2019), Dystopia (2021), Peace and Disturbancy (2023) and Viva la Cuba (2024).
