About
Misak Hartenyan’s paintings push abstraction into bold, graphic territory, bringing together cityscapes, still lifes and portraits through vibrant colour, geometric forms and layered textures. His compositions create visual illusions across fragmented figures and flat surfaces, resulting in works that feel both playful and meticulously constructed.
For Hartenyan, painting is a way to express what moves him most. His work celebrates beauty and optimism, reflecting his belief that art has the power to inspire, connect and bring out the best in people.
Over the course of his career, Hartenyan has created more than 800 paintings and graphic works and published three monographs of his work. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, symposiums and biennales in Armenia and internationally, receiving awards in more than 25 international competitions, including in the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Ukraine and Italy.
